Shadow Airlift: Hercules Simulator

About This Simulator

The sun has set over the Persian Gulf as your four-engine Hercules climbs away from Dubai International Airport. Ahead lies thousands of miles of desert, rugged mountains, and isolated valleys. Your destination is a remote airstrip somewhere in western Afghanistan.

What—or who—you are carrying is never revealed.

Weather changes by the minute. Navigation is limited. Fuel must be managed carefully. Mountain terrain leaves little room for mistakes, and many of the destinations have little more than a strip of compacted dirt illuminated by portable lights.

Your mission is simple:

Deliver the aircraft, complete the flight, and return safely.

No combat is portrayed. No weapons are used. The challenge is flying one of history’s most capable cargo aircraft into demanding environments using realistic aircraft systems and sound aeronautical decision-making.

Flight Tips

Start each engine individually and monitor torque before taxi.

Respect V1, VR, and V2 speeds during departure.

Plan your descent early when operating into mountain airfields.

Use reverse pitch only after touchdown.

Monitor fuel carefully on longer flights.

Heavy cargo dramatically affects takeoff distance and climb performance.
