Field Art Builder — Image → Lines → KML
Field Art Builder — Image → Lines → KML
Turn any image (logo, sketch, mascot) into simplified line paths, georeference it to a field, and export a KML you can load in Google Earth to mow precise artwork. Everything runs offline in your browser — perfect on iPhone/iPad with Save to Files.
What it does
- Converts an uploaded image to a clean line drawing (Sobel edges → contour trace → path simplification)
- Lets you set anchor latitude/longitude, feet per pixel, rotation, and flip
- Exports a KML with polyline paths (no servers, no tracking)
- On iOS, the Share / Save to Files sheet opens so you pick where the KML goes
How to use
- Tap Upload image (JPG/PNG).
- Adjust Edge threshold, Min path length, Simplify tolerance.
- Enter your Anchor lat/lon (lower-left of the art after rotation/flips).
- Set Feet per pixel to scale the art to your field size.
- Optional: Flip X/Y or Rotate to match reality.
- Generate & Download KML → choose Save to Files → open in Google Earth.
Notes & tips
- If edges look noisy, raise Threshold and/or Min path length.
- If lines are too sparse, lower Threshold or Downscale factor (try 1–2).
- Path simplification reduces points for smoother mower lines (increase tolerance for fewer points).
- Small-area geo math uses a feet→degrees approximation; it’s accurate at field scale.
Privacy
100% client-side. Your images never leave your device.
Compatibility
- Mobile Safari / iOS: supports the native Share / Save to Files flow.
- Chrome/Edge/Firefox desktop: standard download dialog.
Known limits
- Very large images may take a few seconds to process on phones.
- If your browser doesn’t support the Web Share API with files, it will fall back to a normal download.
Changelog
- v1.1 — iOS share sheet enabled; download stops at Save/Share window.
- v1.0 — Initial release (image→lines, georef, KML export).
License
Free to use for personal and commercial field art. No warranty.
