Estimate the distance to nearby lightning strikes using the time difference between the visible flash and the sound of thunder.

How It Works

1. Tap “I Saw Flash” when you see lightning.
2. The timer starts immediately.
3. The app listens through your microphone.
4. When thunder is detected, the distance is automatically calculated.
5. Results are displayed in both miles and kilometers.

Distance Formula

• Miles ≈ Seconds ÷ 5
• Kilometers ≈ Seconds ÷ 3
